Seen in the axial direction, each of the clamping surfaces of the rotationally reversible clamping element freewheel represents a chord of a circle arc. This produces a surface which is symmetrical to the centre line, is of great advantage in terms of production engineering and at the same time offers the possibility of displacing the clamping elements with the aid of reversing segments in such a way that the clamping action occurs optionally both in clockwise rotation and in anticlockwise rotation under the same geometrical conditions.
