As a simple robust shut-off member which, depending upon time, brings about a gradual cross-sectional change and with which different clearly defined discrete adjustments of the passage cross-section are possible, it is proposed to equip such a member with at least one slide, each of the slides bearing against a predeformed actuating element made of a memory alloy which can be heated from outside, so that the shape change path of the actuating element brings about the opening and closing of the passage cross-section when the temperature changes. <IMAGE>
