Stationary track brake

The brake consists of a U-shaped element (K) of ferromagnetic material with inserted travel rail (F) and brake bars (L) laid on the latter. The braking effect is achieved by means of permanent magnets (M) which are integrated into the U-shaped element (K) and whose field lines close over the vehicle wheels (R) which run on the travel rail (F) and brake the said wheels (R) mechanically and by forming eddy-currents. The braking force can be adjusted by means of movable pole elements (P), auxiliary poles (H) permitting the brake to be easily controlled. <IMAGE>
