The changing of the cables of cable-operated monorail conveyors and rail floor conveyor systems used in underground mining is brought about by means of a cable pay-out device which has a roller around which the new cable can be wound and a pull-in roller and both rollers are connected to one another in a positively engaging fashion by means of gearwheels. The pull-in roller has a cable guide groove and a cable pressure roller which constantly acts on the cable to be paid out so that this roller which rotates in the opposite direction pulls the old cable reliably out of the system without the operators having to intervene. <IMAGE>
