PURPOSE:To improve separation from a photosensitive body and conveyance by removing residual charges from transfer paper with a destaticizing lamp. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a photosensitive drum 1 is applied with a high voltage for transfer by a corona discharger 4 and charges generated on the surface of the photosensitive drum 1 are removed successively with light projected on the photosensitive drum 1 by the destaticizing lamp 6. Thus, the transferring operation of the transfer paper is performed completely up to the rear end and charges on the surface of the photosensitive drum which is charged electrostatically and excessively by corona discharge are removed successively with the light of the destaticizing lamp 6. The destaticizing lamp 6 irradiates the transfer paper right after the transfer to remove some of the remaining charges to reduce the electrostatic attractive force of the transfer paper to the photosensitive drum 1. Consequently, the separation of the transfer paper from the photosensitive drum 1 is improved and the conveyance of the transfer paper is also improved.
