Devices and means, preferably in the form of a standpipe 10, a feed pump 21 and a throttle valve 19, which is controlled by a level controller 18, are provided at the outlet end 2 of the disc mill 1 in order to control the outflow out of the mill in a virtually completely normal way. The passage of the material to be ground (in this case wood fibre suspension) through the grinding gap formed by the grinding discs is influenced by means of a counterpressure which is generated by a pressure medium in gas or vapour form. This pressure medium is introduced into the edge region of the grinding discs or onto the rear side of the grinding discs, that is to say that side which is not provided with the grinding segments. The pressure is controlled relatively independently of, but with a certain degree of dependence on, the feed pressure at the inlet side of the mill. |
