PURPOSE:In shipping harvested scallions, to cut roots and stems from scallions surely, by connecting a scallion feed hopper through a tough to a specific root cutting mechanism. CONSTITUTION:Scallions in a feed hopper are fed one by one through a trough 2 from a discharge column 8 to a root cutting mechanism uprightly. Scallions 4 are engaged with holes which are caused by opposing hollow protrusions produced at the opposing ends of a main sliding element 17 and an auxiliary sliding element 18 and the scallions are surely sandwiched by the lag of movement starting of the main sliding element 17 by reciprocation of a mounting base 10. An upper and a lower blades 29 and 30 cut roots and stems of scallions, the auxiliary sliding element is stopped in the vicinity of thereciprocating end of the mounting base and the scallions are released.
