PURPOSE:To monitor numerous push-button telephone systems from one maintenance center and, at the same time, to improve the maintenance service, by providing an automatic answering maintenance equipment which not only automatically responds to a main system as an extension system, but also transmits maintenance states. CONSTITUTION:A main system 1 is connected with push-button telephone sets 2 and an automatic answering maintenance equipment 3 through an extension line 5 and with an exchange 6 through a line wire 7 and its operating state is stored in a memory 4. The equipment 3 has various answer signals depending upon its built-in function and is selectively connected with the main system 1 by a special number for maintenance test arriving through the line wire 7. When an automatic answering means 311 is actuated, an off-hook signal which is the same as that of the telephone sets 2 is transmitted as an answer signal and, at the same time, a proper answer generating means 312 is actuated at the automatic answering maintenance equipment 3. The means 312 transmits the sounds of a specific frequency to a transmitter as normal answering sounds by means of an oscillator having the specific frequency.
