<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a recording fluid which is suitable for ink jet applications and excellent in long-term storage stability, fixation to recording substrate, safety, and recording characteristics and can produce clear images having excellent resistance to weather, light and water, by dissolving a recording agent comprising a particular dye compd. in a solvent. CONSTITUTION:A dye compd., such as an acid dye compd., which has at least two acid groups per molecule selected from among COOH and SO3H groups, at least one of the acid groups forming a salt with a metal ion having a valence of at least two, such as Mg<2+> and Ca<2+>, or an org. amine having a valence of at least two, such as (tri)ethylenediamine, while the remainder of the acid groups forming a salt with a monovalent metal ion, such as Na<+> or with a monovalent org. amine, such as monoethanolamine or methylamine, is dissolved in a solvent selected from among water and a mixture comprised of 5-95% water-soluble org. solvent (e.g., diethylene glycol or N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone) and 10-90% water in an amt. of 0.1-20wt% based on the total wt. of the recording soln., thereby obtaining a recording fluid. If necessary, at least one agent selected from among a viscosity modifier, a surface active agent, a surface tension modifier, a pH modifier, etc., may be added to the recording fluid.</p> |
