PURPOSE:To display the remaining number of the recordable image corresponding to the change of a recording length even when the recording length per image is changed by displaying the remaining number of the image, which can be recorded at the first memory means by the output from an arithmetic means, at a display means. CONSTITUTION:At the time of retrieving an image, the retrieving information from an information input part 8 is inputted to a controller 14, the retrieving information stored at an information memory part 11 is retrieved by the controller 14 and the retrieving information coincident to the inputted retrieving information is extracted. The image data corresponding to the extracted retrieving information are extracted from an image memory part 11 and displayed to a display part 23. At the time of registering to store the image data to the image memory part 11, the information for retrieval is stored into an information memory part 12, the information of the recording mode of the image data controlled an image input part 9 and a frame memory 10 and stores the image data to the image memory part 11. Thus, even when the data recording length per image is changed in accordance with the recording mode, the remaining number of the recordable image in the set recording mode can be known.
