PURPOSE:To produce inexpensively metallic Ti with a simple stage by bringing a fluorine-contg. compd. of Ti into contact with Al or Mg heated to a high temp. in an inert gaseous atmosphere or vacuum. CONSTITUTION:A fluorine-contg. compd. A of Ti such as TiF4, (NH4)2TiF6, K2TiF6 or the like obtd. by bringing an aq. soln. contg. F<->, NH4<+>, K<+>, etc. into contact with the Ti extracted and incorporated into an org. solvent formed by diluting an extracting agent such as an alkyl phosphoric acid or the like with a petroleum hydrocarbon to transfer the Ti to an aq. phase and to separate the crystal from the aq. soln. is conducted into a reactor C or vacuum reactor filled with a reducing gas or inert gas where the compd. is brought into reaction by contact with metallic Al or metallic Mg at a high temp. of >=220 deg.C. By-produced AlF3, MgF2, KF, NH4F, etc. D are separated as gas and metallic TiE is obtd. |
