PURPOSE:To facilitate the repair of the surface of a lap and promote the productivity of lapping, by performing the lapping in a four-way manner and thereafter replacing a carrier with a repairing plate and performing a two-way operation. CONSTITUTION:When a motor 19 is rotated forward, torque is transmitted through clutches 37, 45 so that an upper lap 11 and a lower lap 13 are turned oppositely to each other, gears 47, 49 are rotated, a carrier 17 is rotated and revolved, and a workpiece 15 is moved. As a result, four-way lapping is performed on the workpiece. When the motor 19 is rotated backward, no torque is transmitted through the clutches 37, 45 so that the upper and the lower laps 11, 13 are stopped, the gears 47, 49 are reversed, and the carrier 17 is rotated and revolved. As a result, two-way lapping is performed. For this reason, the surface 13a of the lap 13 can be repaired if the carrier 17 is replaced with a repairing plate and the motor 19 is rotated backward. |
