PURPOSE:To correctly set a gap depth by providing a common yoke to connect electrically between upper part magnetic layers of respective tracks and grinding from a magnetic recording medium sliding surface side until the common yoke is removed. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic recording medium sliding surface is ground, while an electric current is caused to flow at drawer type electrodes 12 and 13, grinding is executed from a recording medium sliding surface side as shown in an arrow, and then, when a broken line Z-Z, namely, the communicating part of upper part magnetic layers 10 and 11 is eliminated, the electric current to flow at the drawer type electrodes 12 and 13 is cut. The time shows the most suitable gap depth. By connecting the signal outputted from the drawer type electrodes 12 and 13 through a control means to a grinding machine, the grinding machine can be automatically stopped when the grinding is executed up to the suitable gap depth. Thus, the grinding of the medium sliding surface comes to be excellent in the accuracy, mass production and uniformity. |
