PURPOSE:To reduce the steam consumption as well as the evolving quantity of nitrogen oxide and simplify the cutting work of the titled burner by a method wherein liquid fuel is supplied to an injection port while whirling it and spray medium is supplied to the injection port without whirling it. CONSTITUTION:A burner tip 22 is provided with a circular recess 30 at the central section thereof and a circular groove 31 at the outer peripheral part thereof while a plurality of injection holes 32 are bored between the circular groove 31 and the recess 30. One side wall (b) of communicating grooves 33, 35 between the bottom surface of the injection hole 32 and the recess 30 as well as the groove 31 pass substantially through the center of the injection hole 32 while the other side walls (c), (d) are parallel to the one side wall (b) and are positioned tangentially to the injection holes 32. According to this constitution, liquid fuel passes through the injection holes 32 while being whirled and is atomized by the expansion energy of steam injected from the lower surface of the injection holes 32 whereby the liquid fuel is diffused uniformly. Only the liquid fuel is whirled and spray medium is not whirled, therefore, the steam consumption is reduced, the heating temperature of the liquid fuel need not be increased, the generation of nitrogen oxide may be reduced and the cutting work of the titled burner may be simplified.
