PURPOSE:To realize the welding arc monitoring device suitable for a MAG welding by forming the composition to detect the abnormality of a welding arc, utilizing the phenomenon that the ultrasonic intensity is increased at high frequency zone when a spatter is increased with the disturbance of a welding arc. CONSTITUTION:In case of performing a MAG welding of a work 11 by using the welding torch 10 supported by a manipulator 12, the ultrasonic wave 8 generated from a welding arc 7 is received by a receiving sensor 9. An ultrasonic wave discriminating device 13 judges the stable state of the MAG welding arc based on the signal inputted from the receiving sensor 9. With the detection of the arc abnormality by the discriminating device 13, it outputs an abnormality signal to a welding control device 14, giving an emergency stop to a welding power source 15. The welding arc monitoring device suitable for the MAG welding can thus be realized.
