PURPOSE:To automatically regulate the surface area of a rudder according to going speeds of a ship by providing the second rudder which can be projected to the rear side through an opening and also is housed into the first rudder. CONSTITUTION:When a ship goes at medium or high speeds, since a fluid force 17 proportional to two power of the speed of the ship 1 in relation to water acts on a pressure receiver plate 11, the plate 11 is pushed backwards. Since a wire rope 10 is pulled toward the direction of arrow 18 by the force acting on the plate 11, the second rudder 7 moves forwards and stops at the position where the fluid force 17 is balanced with the forces of springs 8a and 8b. On the otherhand, when the ship is decelerated, since the fluid force 17 acting on the plate 11 becomes smaller, the second rudder 7 is moved backwards until the fluid force is newly balanced with the springs 8a and 8b, and the surface area of the rudder can therefore be increased. |
