PURPOSE:To prevent the leakage and breakout of molten metal at the time of starting for casting and to smoothly start the casting operation by making roll gap, which the leakage of the molten metal does not occur by compressive force of compression spring inserted into between a cylinder and a shifting roll shaft. CONSTITUTION:A sheet for testing having the prescribed thickness is beforehand inserted into between the twin rolls 1, 1' and while measuring the roll pushing force by a load measuring device 6 inserted into between a cylinder 3 and a spring 2, the position of the cylinder 3 is shifted to come to the prescribed initial roll pushing force. Next, the twin rolls 1, 1' is rotated to discharge the sheet for testing, and then, the roll gap, to which the molten metal is not leaked by the compressive force of the spring 2, is restored by the spring 2 force. Under such a condition and the prescribed number of revolution, the pouring rate of the molten metal is controlled, so as to become to constant sheet thickness and make the height of the molten metal basin 4, shaped at the inlet side of rotation of the twin rolls 1, 1', constant. |
