PURPOSE:To decrease coefft. of dynamic friction by using a mixture composed of a polyuerthane polyol resin obtd. by the reaction of an ether alcohol having an arom. ring, polyester polyol, specific silicon compd. and diisocyalate compd. and a copolymer resin contg. a vinyl chloride as a binder of a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The mixture composed of the polyuerthane polyol resin obtd. by the reaction of the ether alcohol having the arom. ring, polyester polyol, the silicon compd. expressed by formula I and diisocyanate compd. and the copolymer resin contg. the vinyl chloride is used as the binder of the magnetic layer 1. A magnetic coating compd. prepd. by dispersing ferromagnetic powder into such binder and mixing a di- or polyisocyanate compd. therewith is coated on a nonmagnetic substrate 2, by which the magnetic layer 1 is formed. Lubricity is provided to the binder itself and the strength thereof is increased by having the main chain contg. the silicon in the binder resin in the magnetic layer 1 and having much arom. ring and therefore, the ciefft. of friction is decreased and the running property of a magnetic tape is improved without increasing the amt. of the lubricating agent, wear resisting agent, polishing agent, etc., to be added.
