PURPOSE:To easily grasp the number of misinput words due to the mis-touch of a key entry device or the like or the ratio of misinput words by deciding whether the spelling of words including a phrase is an error or not and totalizing and displaying the decided result. CONSTITUTION:At the input of a sentence, the sentence inputted from the key entry device 5 is stored in a sentence memory device 6, and at every formation of a word, the word is outputted to a spelling checking device 7. The number of misspelling words is stored in a misspelling frequency memory device 10 and the number of words is stored in a word number memory device 9. A miss ratio calculating device 11 calculates a miss ratio from the number of words and the number of misspelling words. The miss ratio is inputted to a comparing/deciding device 12 and compared with a reference miss ratio obtained from a reference miss ratio memory device 13 and the compared result is displayed on a LCD display 8.
