PURPOSE:To control rapidly and economically operation processing based upon the small quantity of control information by using both shift operation and mask operation in the 1st stage of a pipe line type summing operational unit. CONSTITUTION:Two data through a left n-bit shifter 1 and n-bit mask 2 are packed by a logical operation function in the pipe line type summing operational unit 3. The lower 8 bits of an integer consisting of 32 bits can be successively extracted and packed only by executing the OR operation 6 of the operational unit 3 three times. Only two bits are used as information for controlling shift operation and mask operation required for the OR operation 6. On the other hand, one execution of the OR operation 6 can attain operation for successively packing the lower 16 bits of an integer consisting of 32 bits.
