PURPOSE:To describe a rule to return a working memory to the past state if an inference reaches its limits by storing the newest state of the working memory and its past state changing value. CONSTITUTION:A rule selecting part 140 in an inference control part 120 compares the IF part of each rule stored in a production memory 130 with the contents of a working memory 110, selects one matched rule and outputs the selected rule to a selected rule memory 150. When the rule is selected, a rule execution part 160 in the inference control part 120 interpret the THEN part of the rule in the memory 150, and while referring or rewriting a working memory changing value memory 170, updates the contents of the working memory 110. Said operation is repeated until no matched rule exists and then ended.
