A circular cap is placed above the flat two-core cable and a ring shaped lower part is secured to the cap by screws. A lamp holder which has an internal Edison screw-thread and spiked contacts is fastened into a socket in the cap so that the spikes pierce the insulation and make contact with the cores of the cable. A lamp bulb is then screwed into the socket. A spherical translucent cover is then slid over the lamp and screwed into the ring part. The cover connection may be a snap-fit, bayonet fit type, etc. in place of the screw fitting.
