PURPOSE:To prevent oxidization of active material in a negative plate during storage and to prevent a dent in a container caused by reduced pressure by repalcing the air inside a battery with inactive gas, then sealing the battery. CONSTITUTION:A pressure-contact tool 3 is pressed against a liquid inlet 2, and a directional control valve 5 is switched over to a vacuum pump 6 to suck the air inside a lead-acid battery 1. When the pressure inside the battery is reduced to about -150mmHg, the directional control valve 5 is switched over to an inactive gas supply bomb 7 and inactive gas is supplied to the battery at a pressure of +150mmHg. This operation is performed at least one time, but by repeating the operation several times, the air inside the battery is almost replaced with inactive gas. Then the liquid inlet 2 is sealed by melt-bonding aluminium foil tape. |
