The preferred adhesives are stabilised aqueous emulsion polymers having viscosities (Brookfield RTV, 20 degree C and 20 rpm) of at least 15,000 mPas and especially within the range 50,000 to 500,000 mPas and containing polyethylene glycol of virtually unlimited storage stability or mixed polyether comprising ethylene oxide and propylene oxide having a mean molecular weight of at least 3000 as the thickening agent.
