<p>Transdermal drug delivery systems comprise a drug-contg. adhesive base layer and a drug-impermeable backing layer. The base layer is a flexible self-supporting sheet of a crosslinked acrylate polymer (I) which adheres to the skin for at least 24 hr and contains sufficient drug to provide sustained release over 24 hr without dissolution of (I) by the drug. The base layer, which may be covered by a removable protective layer, comprises 40-80 (esp. 54-70) wt.% acrylate polymer (Ia), 20-60 (esp. 30-38.4) wt.% nitroglycerin, 0.2-1 (esp. 0.3-0.8) wt.% of a crosslinking agent (II), up to 10 wt.% H2O, and opt. 0.9-1.8 wt.% of a thickener. (Ia) contains 1-5 wt.% acrylic acid and 5-20 wt.% of a 4-12C alkyl acrylate (balance not specified). (II) is a melamine deriv.</p> |
