PURPOSE:To enable automatic loading/reproduction recovery for a conventional disk and a small diameter disk with by providing a catcher unit, a disk elevating/descending member and a drive means to a disk loading device. CONSTITUTION:When a loaded disk is a small sized disk (36), a limit switch 58 is driven by the cam 57a of a catcher unit C, the drive motor 12 of a disk elevating/descending unit G is started, and when a conventional disk 32 is loaded, a limit switch 59 placed at the rear position is driven by the cam 57a and the drive motor 12 is started. Then a disk holder 14 is moved from the reserving position into the acting position, the catcher unit C passes by the upper part of a lift ring 5, then the center of the disk (32, or 36) reaches nearly just above the lift ring 5, the lift ring 5 rises to the elevating position to support the center of the disk (32, 36) above the ring, the disk clamp of the catcher unit C is opened and the disk (32, 36) is released from the catcher unit C.
