PURPOSE:To prevent the deposition of a solidified metal on the inner wall of a weir member by jetting a gas toward the slag freed region in the member through gas paths so as to remove a molten metal stuck to the inner wall of the member by splash during the addition of an alloy. CONSTITUTION:Slag 17 floating on the surface of a molten metal 16 in a ladle is removed by bottom bubbling, and the lower part of a weir member 11 is immersed in the slag freed region of the molten metal. When an alloying element is added to the slag freed region, the molten metal 16 sticks to the inner wall of the member 11 by splash. In order to remove the molten metal stuck to the inner wall of the member 11, a gas such as Ar is fed to nozzles 15 through gas feeding pipes 12 and jetted from the nozzles 15.
