PURPOSE:To remove arsenic in petroleum fraction with a simple device at a high removing percentage by using an adsorbent comprising a sulfur element in a base. CONSTITUTION:Petroleum fraction containing arsenic is contacted with an adsorbent in bases of inorganic high-molecular compound and the like such as activated carbon, bituminal coal, polystyrene and the like into which a sulfur element represented particularly by mercapto group. As a result, without any pretreatment facilities and after treatment facilities except a strainer, and also without any trouble of polymerization caused by highly reactive olefin groups contained in petroleum fraction, arsenic contained in petroleum fraction can be removed at a high removal rate.
