PURPOSE:To facilitate the assembly and to improve the accuracy of step angles by dividing a rotor axially at a magnetic pole portion into two sections. CONSTITUTION:A step motor is equipped with a rotor 2 with a magnetic pole portion 1 where numeroue opposing poles are alternately arranged in the circumferential direction. The rotor 2 is divided into two sections axially at the magnetic pole portion 1. The first rotor 3 and the second rotor 4 are fitted to each edge of rotor shafts 31 and 41 so that disc magnets 32 and 42 will meet at right angles with the rotor shafts 31 and 41 respectively. Stator yokes 5 and 6 are provided at specified intervals G and G' on both sides of the magnet pole portion 1 in the axial direction. Coils 9 and 10 are wound around the coil frames and enclosed into cup-shaped housings 15 and 16.
