The invention relates to a method and a device for combustion of hydrocarbons with combustion air. In order drastically to reduce the harmful-substance emission and to increase the efficiency of the methods and of the associated devices such as heating installations and combustion engines, it is proposed according to the invention that the combustion air is at least partially enriched, saturated or supersaturated with moisture (water vapour) and only mixed with the fuel directly before combustion.
