The pot-type twisting spindle serves for twisting one or more yarns or threads which are wound singly or doubly on bobbins. The pot-type twisting spindle consists of a rotary-driveable twisting pot (1), in the interior of which a bobbin-receiving mandrel (2) projecting centrally from the bottom is arranged, and of a twisting-pot cover which carries on the top side a centrally arranged twist-limiting part (11). The bobbin or the bobbins (5, 5', 5'') is or are placed onto the bobbin-receiving mandrel (2) so as to be rotatable in an easily rolling manner. Arranged in the pot wall (1) in the middle of the bobbin or bobbins (5, 5', 5'') are guides (7, 7', 7''; 17, 18; 28, 30), by which the yarns or threads (9, 9', 9'') are guided upwards to the twist-limiting part (11) and further to the drawing-off or winding-on device. For the reliable take-up of the bobbin or bobbins (5, 5', 5'') inserted into the twisting pot (1), especially during the starting and stopping of the pot-type twisting spindle, braking or coupling devices are provided in the pot-type twisting spindle, especially those which are released as a result of centrifugal force when higher spindle rotational speeds are reached (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
