PURPOSE:To prevent the lowering of the measured value caused by hemoglobin, etc., produced by hemolytic action, by adding thiourea to a reagent used in the determination of an enzymatic activity in serum by the absorbance of light of a specific wavelength range. CONSTITUTION:The activity of an enzyme such as alpha-amylase, gamma-glutamyl transferase, etc., in serum is determined by the absorbance of light of 400-450nm wavelength. In the above process, usually >=0.01wt% thiourea is added to a solution of a reagent composed of a substrate (e.g. 2-chloro-4-nitrophenyl-beta-D- maltoheptaoxide, etc.), etc.
