Such a user device exhibits a video camera (5) which supplies outgoing video information, a screen (3) on which the incoming information is displayed, and a semitransparent mirror (8) on which the rays coming from the screen are redirected in such a manner that they extend in the same direction as the rays between the user and the video camera. This provides for parallax-free video images of the user. The video camera (5) is arranged movably on a guide (14) and, as a result, can be moved to and fro between a first position in which it points towards the user and a second position (Figure) in which it points towards another pickup area (15). This makes it possible to transmit, in addition to the video image of the user, also video images of drawings, plans, objects, devices, images of the environment and so forth to the video call partner without needing a second video camera for this purpose. <IMAGE>
