PURPOSE:To reduce the number of wirings and cost by generating at least two different commanding signals from a commanding signal changing means to a control line according to the operation of an operating means so that the operative mode of a wiper motor is selected according to the commanding signal. CONSTITUTION:A variable resistance 5 is provided for a commanding signal changing means to change its resistance value in the interlocking relation with an operating switch for determining a wiper operating mode in a compartment. An oscillator circuit 100 comprising this variable resistance 5 is constituted to sent its output signal to the input of a mode selecting section 200 consisting of a frequency counter 8, an oscillator 9 of reference clock and digital comparators 10-12. And a wiper motor 26 is controllably driven through a drive circuit 300 according to the operating mode selected by the mode selecting section 200. A controller 400 constituted from these constituents 100-300 and others is provided in a housing of the wiper motor 26.
