PURPOSE:To rapidly shift from a static picture reproduction to an ordinary reproduction without generating noise by providing a tape running control circuit, releasing the braking of a capstan motor synchronously with a static picture reproduction releasing command and thereafter starting the tape running by a signal delaying a head change over signal. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic video reproducing device 10 reproduces the static picture having no noise, a recording track constantly stops with a constant relation to the tracks of respective heads 12 15 sliding on the magnetic tape 1. At this time, when a static picture reproduction command switch 40 is released, a static picture picture reproduction releasing signals outputted to a capstan braking circuit 47. The tape running control circuit 41 delays a prescribed time by the input of the first head change over signal after the capstan braking releasing signal is inputted, thereafter, outputs a tape running command to a capstan motor driving circuit 29. In this manner, the delay time from the static picture reproduction releasing to the tape running start is controlled by the head change over signal, so that the noise is not generated and the rapid shifting to the ordinary reproduction is attained.
