The hot glueing of cardboard blanks formed around groups of packages requires precise adjustment and control of the glue aggregates. In such packages bottles, cans, glasses etc. soiled by faulty sprayings are often seen. When production is interrupted the glue is often completely missing or misses the glueing points. The intention of the following invention is to eliminate such disadvantages. Each cardboard blank has, at the points to be joined, an application of hot-melt adhesive already applied at the manufacturers. This application is activated in the folding process by, for example, hot-air nozzles or contact heating elements, in such a manner that it is capable of adhering. Subsequent pressing results in joining as usual. The anticipated advantages: More simple machines without glue aggregates and nozzles. No preheating of the glue. No complicated adjusting and control. Sufficient metering for the required strength. No spraying of the packaged goods or of the machines in error. The selection of the suitable adhesive is made by the manufacturer of the blank. The present invention facilitates, with increased safety, in particular the adhesive bonding of see-through or framed cardboard boxes for which particularly precise adhesive bonds are required.
