Method and forging die for manufacturing universal joint halves with in each case fork and shaft connection flange for universal joint shafts

The invention relates to a method for manufacturing universal joint halves for universal joint shafts, according to which the shaft connection flanges have cams for a cross toothing. In forging the shaft connection flange, the cross toothing is preforged in the cams and in particular with close tolerances being observed. After the forging process, the cross toothing is finished by machine finishing. A cold calibration of the universal joint halves can be forgone. As a result, the manufacture of the universal joint halves is rationalised considerably.
