PURPOSE:To obtain the state of the jetted fuel corresponding to the operation state by a simple and compact structure by constituting the nozzle tip of an injection nozzle from piezoelectric material and varying the diameter of an injection hole by applying a voltage. CONSTITUTION:When the pressure of the fuel supplied under pressure into a fuel passage on a nozzle body 1 from a pump obtains a prescribed pressure, a needle valve 3 is separated from a seat surface 11 and rises, and fuel is jetted from the injection holes 5 and 5 formed onto a piezoelectric ceramic body 4. If a voltage is applied through lead parts 61 and 65 in injection, a potential difference is generated at the outside region of the injection hole 5 corresponding to the face part 60 and the injection hole region corresponding to an introducing part 62, cylindrical parts 63 and 63, and a connection part 64, and a strain in the direction for reducing the diameter of the injection hole 5 is applied into the injection hole 5, 5 region, and the fuel is automatically throttled by the reduction of the diameter of the injection hole 5 and jetted into a combustion part. Therefore, the form of the jetted fuel can be changed freely by only controlling the voltage applied into a nozzle tip 2.
