An air humidifier has an elongated rectangular housing which consists of a trough-shaped lower part for receiving water, only two end walls arranged at the narrow sides, and a housing cover engaging over the top of the latter, whereas at both longitudinal sides there is openly arranged in each case a large-area evaporation element which occupies substantially the entire area at these sides of the housing. Arranged between the two evaporation elements are a ventilator and a water pump which transports the water from the lower part into a respective water channel above the evaporation elements.
