A manually openable closure system (10) for a container spout (12). The closure (14) is provided with a pull tab (50) extending below the closure (14) and adjacent the spout surface (12). The closure (14) is removable from the spout (12) without the use of any auxiliary cutting or other tools. The closure (14) is resilient and is provided with a top portion for sealing the spout orifice (22) and for venting the interior of the container (18) by being deformed by an excessive internal pressure to uncover the orifice (22) thereby venting the interior of the container (18) via the space between the cap (14) and the spout (12). |
