This invention relates to drug-polymer matrix compositions comprising an active ingredient having an amino or amido group and a pharmaceutically acceptable copolymer having a plurality of carboxylic acid and ester groups wherein the matrix dissociates in a media having a pH of less than 4, thereby releasing the active ingredient into the media.
