PURPOSE:To obtain a silver halide photographic sensitive material having such photographic characteristics as high sensitivity, high contrast and few black spots by incorporating an acid polymer and a quinone trapping agent into an emulsion layer or other hydrophilic colloidal layer. CONSTITUTION:An acid polymer and a quinone trapping agent and incorporated into an emulsion layer or other hydrophilic colloidal layer. The acid polymer used is preferably represented by formula I or II and the preferred amount of the acid polymer used is 0.2-3g/m<2>. The quinone trapping agent is a compound which reacts with quinone and makes the quinone lose its oxidizing action, that is, a compound used generally as a reducing agent or an antioxidant or a compound capable of nucleophilic addition to quinone. Catechol, hydroquinone or other dihydroxybenzene is preferably used as the quinone trapping agent.
