PURPOSE:To plate a plastic watchcase without causing cracking by fixing plastic glass different from the plastics of the case in chemical properties in the case and by plating only the case. CONSTITUTION:A plastic watchcase 1 is made of ABS resin, plastic glass 2 is made of polycarbonate resin and the case 1 is plated. At this time, the glass 2 is fixed in the case 1 by forming a joined face 6 by ultrasonic melt bonding to keep airtightness without causing a creep phenomenon in the case 1. Only the ABS resin is then activated by etching with a treating soln. and only the ABS resin case 1 is chemically plated. The polycarbonate resin glass 2 is not chemically etched at all. The chemically plated case 1 is subjected to final finish electroplating. Thus, plating is carried out without cracking the resulting plated layer 5. |
