PURPOSE:To eliminate the interference of painting robots with each other and to shorten the time for painting with a smaller number of painting stations by adequately disposing and setting the plural painting robot to a material to be coated which is tact-conveyed to the stations. CONSTITUTION:The 1st-7th painting robots 1-7 are disposed digzag in this order to both sides on a conveying path 8 in a method for automatic spray painting of the material to be coated such as vehicle body with the plural painting robots. Part of two rows of painting regions A-H segmented to four regions is painted by the 1st robot 1, D, E are painted by the 2nd and 3rd robots 2, 3, part of H is painted by the 4th robot 4, C, F are painted by the 5th and 6th robots and part of H and G by the 7th robot in the process of conveying the vehicle body W from the 1st station S1 to the 2nd painting station S2. The time for painting is thus considerably shortened.
