The invention relates to a process for treating soya bean in order to prepare soya bean seeds intended for consumption, characterised by the fact that the dried seeds, having a moisture content of 12 to 14% by weight, are sprayed with an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate or one of their mixtures, provided that the sodium hydroxide content of the mixture does not exceed 50% and that the moisture content of the seeds is adjusted to 15 to 25% by weight, that the soya bean seeds are allowed to rest and that subsequently, in a treatment chamber, a permanent stream of air for entrainment at 350-400 DEG C is blown over the seeds, that the soya bean seeds flow across the treatment chamber for a period of 15 to 20 minutes, that they are crushed using processes known per se, that a known antioxidant is added thereto and that, if desired, they are pelleted.
