PURPOSE:To form a dye image high in density with high sensitivity through short time heat development by forming a silver halide emulsion composed of a silver halide emulsion having clear 2-layer structure in the inside of each silver halide grain having an average grain diameter of >=0.3mum, and incorporating a specified compound in the emulsion. CONSTITUTION:At least one part of the silver halide emulsion is composed of the silver halide grains having each a clear 2-layer structure in the inside of each grain and an average grain diameter of >=0.3mum, and the emulsion contains at least one of the compounds represented by formula I and II in which Ball is an organic ballasting group capable of rendering said compound condiffusive; Y is carbon atom group necessary to complete a benzene or naphthalene ring; R<1> is optionally substituted alkyl or such cycloalkyl or the like; R<2> is H, halogen, or the like; and n is an integer of 0-5.
