PURPOSE:To obtain a skin-beautifying cosmetic having skin-beautifying effect as well as anti-suntan effect, and free from side effects, by compounding a cosmetic base with thiolurocanic acid or its salt having the activities to suppress the formation of melanine and absorb ultraviolet radiation. CONSTITUTION:The objective skin-beautifying cosmetic is obtained by compounding a cosmetic base with 0.01-5wt%, preferably about 0.1-1wt%, based on the base, of thiolurocanic acid of formula or its salt which is known as the histidine metabolism product in the living body.
