PURPOSE:To reduce power loss and to improve efficiency, by a method wherein power is supplied from a DC power source directly to a load through a PNP transistor of prescribed connection. CONSTITUTION:If an AC power source is applied, an NPN transistor 12 is turned off and base current of a PNP transistor 10 does not flow thereby the PNP transistor 10 is not turned on, and power is supplied to a load 8 from DC power source obtained by rectifying the AC power source. If the AC power source is not applied, the NPN transistor 12 is turned on and base current of the PNP transistor 10 flows thereby the PNP transistor 10 is turned on, and power is supplied to the load 8 from a DC power source 9 through the PNP transistor 10 only.
