PURPOSE:To improve weatherability by dipping a base body on which a thin ferromagnetic thin film is formed into a soln. or melt contg. an ionizable material, impressing an electric field thereto and providing a protective film on the surface of the thin ferromagnetic film. CONSTITUTION:A base body on which a thin ferromagnetic film is formed is dipped into a soln. or melt which contains an ionizable material and is heated to an optional temp. A fatty acid, surface active agent, org. metallic complex, etc. are used for the ionizable material. An electrode consisting of a material having a low hydrogen overvoltage such as platinum, graphite or the like is installed to face the base body in a vessel and an electric field is impressed between the formed thin ferromagnetic film and the electrode, thereby forming a protective film on the surface of the thin ferromagnetic film. Since said film is formed by using the ionized liquid, the film has less pinholes and the rate at which moisture, etc. permeates through the protective film is considerably decreased. |
