<p>In the process for covering and profiling articles, a substrate material of the desired size, shape and stiffness is chosen, the upper and lower sides of at least one part made of flexible foam are treated with an adhesive, the lower side of the flexible foam material is placed on at least one zone of the surface of the substrate material and an elastic, thermally deformable cover material is placed on the upper side of the foam material. The laminated body thus produced is inserted into a mould, the cover material is then stretched in the mould, adapting it to the surface contour of that zone of the substrate material covered with the flexible foam. The cover is profiled in the moulds and the surface of the article is compression moulded with the supply of heat, there being consequently produced on the article a profiled cover which follows the contour of a selected region of the surface of the base and adheres to the base.</p> |
